NOTE: All my lava images are greatly enhanced if the final print is lit in close, glancing across the photo from the top or kitty-corner, using 50-watt Par-20-spot lights; especially true for canvas prints. Most stores with lighting fixers carry them for about $10.

One of my most popular active lava images: Pre-sunrise dawn light illuminates the scene where molten lava flows out the end of massive lava tubes stemming from seven miles upslope at Kilauea volcano on the island of Hawaii's south side. The shoreline rocks are fuming and the sea is steaming on each side of the new black sand beach, which formed recently when lava exploded into the ocean there.
Prints beautifully to 30x40-inches
 • Coastal Plains on a February Sunrise - aka-- Sunrise Over Kalapana
I recently had my lab print this on canvas at 40X60-inches with an extra side border of black and it looks awesome!!
• Lava advances down the PULAMA PALI, HAWAII, destroying all forests in its path.
This lava flow covered Jack Thompson's home and property two days later (only 1000-feet from here). You can see the images, video and read my story about this on my Hawaiian Lava Daily blog that is linked in my header bar.
• This is a pretty cool lava river! I loved how the steam comes and goes; sometimes hiding all that action.
 • Building Big Island
IMG# 5301-lightE copy

A very popular image because there is so much happening on this lavascape morning.

The explosions are where a lava tube is dumping tons of molten lava directly into the sea. And a portion of that lava tube has erupted onto the surface and is pouring across older lava inland.

This image looks pretty cool on canvas at 30x40-inches!
Waikupanaha ocean entry: A massive explosion takes place at the base of the plume where molten lava is pumping into the ocean on the Island of Hawaii.

The plume is comprised of steam, sulfur dioxide, glass particles, ash, rock, and black sand. As the molten lava pours out of the lava tubes that carried it from the volcano above, it instantly explodes into black sand and rock fragments. Many of these molten chunks will continue floating and streaming on the ocean.
This photo looks really nice blown up large, like 30x40-inches on canvas or photo papers.

 • Rupturing lava tube high upon the slopes above the decimated Royal Gardens subdivision; the ocean in the distance and coastal lava plains. The molten lava is being fed from the erupting Kilauea Volcano Pu`u O`o crater four miles further up the mountain.
